heh...
Ok, occasionally I actually
like some anti drug propoganda & this was one of the first times.
This is a sign that I photographed on Palau in 1996 & I think it speaks
for itself...
Of course the really funny part is that Palau has some of the best "green stuff" I've ever encountered... It was somewhat legendary throughout the islands at the time. Occasionally some would make it up to Saipan but not often. Saipan, at the time I was there, was saturated with ICE a particular variety of meth. The problem was beyond widespread. I mean when the Govoner comes on TV for a state of the island adress tweeked, sweating & eyes ready to burst from his skull, you KNOW there's a problem. Of course you could also lease out a Hooker in front of the police cupola downtown Garapan too...
I sometimes
wonder how different my life would be now had we set up shop on Palau instead
of Saipan. I'd say two islands couldn't be more different, what with Palau being
one of the Jewels of the pacific... and Saipan being Saipan. Actually I was
most impressed with the nature of the island and the people. They didn't seem
as pathetically shallow or hypocritical as a lot of the ones I met on Saipan...
And of course the superior green stuff... I can almost picture myself there
today. And considering how much I disliked living on Saipan and that I only
visited Palau once, I suppose that's a bit of a stretch. But Palau deffinitely
made a heavy impression on me.
